Why do you think Franks views has changed suddenly towards his father? And why do you think Malachy Sr. Drinks excessively?

In the last chapter, Frank is a little bit older, about eleven years old, and he is starting to realize that his father is an alcoholic and that what he is doing is wrong. He also adds that when he looks at his father drinking he sees the look Eugene had in his eyes when Oliver died.

I think Frank's view toward his father is changing because first of all he is older and he can see that Alphonsus is starving and that his father is using that money particularity to support his drinking habit.
ReplyDeleteI think that Malachy Sr. drinks because he longs for his dead children. He had a drinking problem since Frank was born but it has gotten worse with the death of Margaret and the twins. I think this because Franks says he has they same look in his eyes that Eugene did when Oliver died, which was a look of him longing for his brother. I also think this because when their first daughter Margaret was born he stopped drinking for the whole two weeks she was a live, but when she died his problem got worse, as it continues to do so with the deaths of each child.

His views have changed because hes older and now he understands whats going on and when he was little he didnt understand as much as he does now. I think he drinks because he's depressed because most of his children are dead and he drinks to ease the pain.
