Loquacious- talking or tending to talk much or freely; talkative; chattering; babbling; garrulous

Pious- having or showing a dutiful spirit of reverence for God or an earnest wish to fulfill religious obligations

Pompous-characterized by an ostentatious display of dignity or importance

Cacophony- harsh discordance of sound; dissonance

  1. I also came across these words, when reading the first page of the book and didn't know what they meant either. Pious is commonly used throughout this book, most of the time to describe Angela. Loquacious also describes Malachy Sr. when he comes home drunk and sings songs and makes the boys salute to Ireland.
